Privacy
Privacy, plainly.
We collect nothing you do not hand us on purpose, and where a third party sees anything at all, we say so on this page.
What runs where
The Eternal Journal itself is a single HTML document that opens locally. It makes no network calls. Your entries are encrypted with your passphrase and stored on your own machine. You can verify this yourself by opening the file with your network disconnected, or by watching your browser's network panel while you write.
There is no account, no sync, no server-side copy of your journal, and no way for us to read it. If you lose your passphrase, we cannot help you recover the writing, because we never had it.
About this site
The pages you are reading now, the marketing pages and the checkout, are served through a hosting platform (Lovable). Their infrastructure records anonymous request-level telemetry: page loads, response times, script errors. It exists only so that infrastructure can be operated. It is not analytics we installed, and it does not follow anyone into the journal they take home.
Analytics and cookies
We do not run analytics. Not Google Analytics, not Plausible, not a self-hosted equivalent. No page-view pixels we placed, no session replay, no heatmaps, no advertising tags. We set no tracking cookies of our own, which is why there is no cookie banner to click through: we removed the cause, not the symptom. The only third-party network activity on these pages is the hosting-layer telemetry above, and Paddle's checkout when you actually buy.
Payment
When you buy, checkout is handled by Paddle as merchant of record. Paddle processes the card, the tax and the receipt. What they see and store is described in their privacy notice. We receive from Paddle only what a purchase needs, chiefly your e-mail address, so we can deliver the file and answer support if you write.
Your e-mail
We use your e-mail to send you the journal, to answer support, and to honour the thirty-day guarantee. We do not add it to a mailing list, do not sell it, do not share it, and do not use it to profile you. If you would like a newsletter, you can ask; otherwise silence is the setting. Purchase records are kept as long as Dutch tax law requires, then deleted.
Accounts and passwords
There are none. There is nothing to log in to. The file is the account.
Data requests, contact
If you would like to know what we have on you, or ask us to delete it, e-mail us at hello@offline.ltd. Since it is usually just your order e-mail and the fact that you bought, this is a short conversation. Meanwhile is the data controller for that handful of information.
Changes
If we ever change how any of this works, this page changes with it, in plain language, before it takes effect. See also the terms and the refund policy.
