Institutional Use
Site licences for clinics, schools, and workplaces.
If you'd like every client, student, or employee to have a copy, write to us. The rates are fair. There's no SSO requirement and no telemetry to install.
Some institutions want to hand a private journal to everyone in their care. The license accommodates this.
There is no per-seat tracking, no centralised dashboard, no "admin view" of what people write — those would defeat the architecture entirely.
What you get is the right to distribute the file under your own brief, plus a contact for support.
The Typewriter Experience
The cursor stays. The text moves.
In Write mode, your cursor remains exactly at the centre of the screen. The page rises up to meet it. Past words fade into soft shadow at the edges, leaving the present sentence in clear focus. Switch to Read mode and the entry flattens into an evenly lit document — the fade is for writing; the flat light is for returning.
Radical Privacy & Encryption
AES-256-GCM, in your browser, with a key only you derive.
- ·PBKDF2 key derivation at 600,000 iterations — the OWASP 2024 recommendation. Existing journals upgrade transparently on first unlock.
- ·No accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, no cookies, no third-party scripts.
- ·IndexedDB storage with a localStorage fallback. Encrypted before it touches the disk.
- ·The file is not minified. You can read the source. We'd rather you trust it than us.
What It Does Not Do
- ✕No word counts chasing you across the screen.
- ✕No formatting toolbar wrestling your thoughts into neatness.
- ✕No cloud sync. No distant servers. Your words stay yours.
- ✕No social sharing. Your vulnerability is not content.
- ✕No AI assistant finishing your sentences.
- ✕No streak counters. No guilt. No gamification.
- ✕No subscriptions. No mood trackers. No noise.
Licensing & Gift Copy
One purchase covers up to three of your personal devices. It also includes a second untouched copy of the file — meant to be given to one person you trust. Lifetime updates. 30-day, no-questions refund. If you run a clinic, school, or workplace and want a copy for everyone, ask us about a site licence.
Questions
Is this a clinical record or EHR?
No. The Eternal Journal is a private personal journal, not a clinical record system. It is not a substitute for therapy, diagnosis, or treatment.
Is it HIPAA-compliant?
HIPAA applies to covered entities handling PHI on behalf of others. As a single-user, offline, end-to-end-encrypted file the journal is not a covered service — a clinician using it for their own reflective notes retains full custody of the data.
Can clinicians recommend it to clients between sessions?
Many do. We provide a short briefing for therapists and practice managers on how the journal is, and isn't, used between sessions.
What happens if a client forgets their passphrase?
The data is unrecoverable — by anyone. Clients should be told this clearly before they begin. It is a feature of the privacy model, not a flaw.
Are there site licences for clinics?
Yes. Site licences for clinics, group practices, and training programmes are available on request.
More in For Clinicians
See all →A journal you can give your clients without becoming a custodian of their thoughts.
One HTML file. Passphrase-locked. No accounts, no servers, no PHI flowing anywhere. The work belongs to the client.
A reflective practice journal that lives outside the systems you work in.
Encrypted, offline, and entirely separate from your EHR, your supervision notes, and your inbox.
For the writing you do between sessions.
Reflective writing. Letters you're not ready to send. The thought you'd rather externalise than carry into Tuesday.
A private place for thought records and behavioural experiments.
No prescribed templates. No scoring. Just a quiet page for the writing your therapist asked you to do.
A journal for writing that is not ready to be shared.
Encrypted, offline, quiet. No prompts, no analysis, no external storage of any kind.
A private page for the loop you'd like to put down.
Externalising thoughts is well-evidenced. Doing it on a server you don't control is something else entirely.
